Our Mission

We will function with Christ as our model and Baptist principles as our guide, to help strengthen churches and individuals to understand better who we are as Baptists and Christians.

Our Story

Formed in April, 2000 by Georgia laypeople and clergy concerned about the direction of Baptist in Georgia, Baptist Heritage Council began work telling the Baptist story throughout the state, by visiting churches, publishing newsletters, and hosting speakers. We continue to tell the Baptist story of traditional values, commitment to Baptist principles and knowledge of Baptist history and heritage. We believe much of our heritage is being lost and want to continue the real face of Baptists.

We believe in these principles:

Centrality of Christ
Authority of the Holy Scripture
Priesthood of Believers
Soul Competency
Religious Liberty
Separation of Church and State
Autonomy of the Local Church
Believers Baptism
Respect for Persons
Intellectual Integrity
Cooperative Spirit
Compassion for Unbelievers
Responsiveness to a Changing World

We are also dedicated to informing Georgia Baptists about the issues that Baptist face through the publication of a newsletter and meeting around the state.  Our mission statement was formed with this in mind.
